Signature tented luxury camp on the river bank

This brand new beautiful camp (due to open the second half of 2020) is tucked under the trees on the edge of the Khwai River. This river is all that separates the iconic Moremi Game Reserve and the concession area, with hippos, elephants and even lions crossing over from time to time. Watching these animals manoeuvre through the water is an exceptional experience for even the most travelled safari veterans. The area's biggest drawcard is undoubtedly the plentiful and extraordinary wildlife – you’ll never be bored here! Adventure and relaxation are on offer as guests live out their ultimate safari experience – from setting off on a morning walking safari to enjoying a crisp gin and tonic overlooking the river.

The elegantly designed Khwai Leadwood camp hosts six standard tents and one family unit, keeping in line with the intimate and exclusive wilderness experience. The new camp effortlessly bridges the gap between luxury accommodation and feeling like you’re in the great African outdoors. Woven baskets and beaded décor, along with modern elements, create an authentic contemporary African style.

Activities at Khwai Leadwood

Activities include guided walking safaris and night drives, water activities, day and night game drives all led by extremely qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the African bush with you.

Walking is a thrilling way to experience Botswana. You are able to delve deeper into the detail of the big and small creatures and investigate the environment they live in, how they think and how they act. You engage all your senses and it’s a great way to get active between coffees and sundowners. For a full day walking safari, you will need to book a private walking guide in advance (on request). Walking safaris are a seasonal activity and availability is based on the thickness of the bush. Walking is only available to guests 16 years and older.

We did not want to leave! As our first ever safari, we had no idea what the expect but our three night stay with Khwai Leadwood went beyond what we could have ever imagined! Comfortable accommodations, delicious food, and unbelievable wildlife. Our host Nico and the staff were so welcoming and our guide Banda was amazing - we could not have asked for a better guide. The camp’s design and high-quality interior are thought through in every detail and make you feel home away from home. Everything is super clean; food and the service provided are truly on another level. The most outstanding aspect of this camp, however, is its staff which is just amazing! ... In short, Khwai Leadwood and the region provided us with the most amazing experience in every way we can think of!
